Marvel Producer Tried to Prevent One Avengers: Infinity War Death

A lot of popular heroes didn’t survive the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Among those who died in the fallout from Thanos’ snap was Black Panther, who recently dominated the box-office with his own movie back in February. Although he ultimately wasn’t able to change the character’s fate, Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore wasn’t willing to let the King of Wakanda turn to dust without a fight.

“I knew pretty well what they were talking about and personally urged them to reconsider,” Moore told the Huffington Post. “But the storytelling made sense, so I love that we got to see a little bit more of Wakanda in that film, and I hope to see how they’re going to resolve that.”

Moore did explain that he understood why the Russo Brothers chose to kill off T’Challa, saying, “they had some really compelling arguments as to why what happened happened. I think ultimately it made for a really interesting, almost more complicated ending to that film because of how well Black Panther was embraced by audiences. Again, personally painful, but I understand the reasoning.”

If T’Challa does come back to life in the future, it currently remains unknown how exactly that will occur. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has already confirmed that a sequel to Black Panther is in the works, which isn’t surprising considering that the movie has made over $1.3 billion at the worldwide box-office.

In theaters now, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie. It will release on Digital and 4K UHD on July 31.
